The world, as the collective consciousness of all humanity, is caught up in the delusion of separation. We think we are separate to everything and everyone around us. The truth is that we are not; science has proven this much by the observer effect, and much wisdom can be found in various writings and scripture that tells us that we are all a part of the one Divine source. But what does this mean, and how can we truly apply this wisdom in our daily lives to benefit not only ourselves but our whole world?
Your world, as you perceive and experience it, is entirely individual to you; it is imaged, created and then projected by your consciousness out into your perceived physical reality as feedback for you to then experience your own “dream”, whether it was devised through conscious direction or through subconscious programming. Regardless, this world, this creation, is not separate, it still all comes from you – all of it, because the great, all powerful Divine source allows it to be so. It allows all things to have expression.
So to truly be in unity and harmony with all around you, you cannot allow egotism to rule. What is egotism? Narcissism, anger, hurt, revenge, greed, prejudice, judgment – all these character traits are common in the human race and expressed by every human being to one degree or another. These traits all have one thing in common, and it is the root of all our suffering: that we have forgotten who we truly are and, in our delusional state, believe in a world of separation.
To blame another for your ills, or for the ills of others, is to separate them. To blame others for a shared misfortune is to accept that the world is separate; to justify all the reasons why you are right and only your opinion counts is to indicate to the Divine that you do not want to share in its glory. The world is filled with narcissism, with “me first” people, and with those who sacrifice themselves for others – yes, even martyrdom is an act of separation.
Perhaps we are ashamed of who we are, or seek the approval, respect or apology of another. How many times have you demanded an apology from somebody, perhaps somebody whom you perceived as having done you wrong in some way? Once again, this is an unconscious habit that is strongly ingrained within the human psyche – but it causes separation and division. Even issues of low self-esteem, or too much pride or vanity, have their roots in the belief in separation – the realm of the ego.
But to truly be at one with your Divine world, we cannot, individually or as a collective, live a lie. What is this lie? It is the sincere belief that we are isolated and independent from the Divine intelligence which created us all and, by extension, isolated and independent from our world. That there is no higher power greater than our human selves. That we all exist in a material universe and that there is nothing above it. Or that we believe in a separate Divine being that does not participate in our deepest desires, or does not share in our greatest triumphs but only seeks to own and control us. Such beliefs, rooted in separatism, can only lead us to lose a part of ourselves, to become weak and experience suffering.
In order to bring peace to the world, and in order for each and every individual dream to be manifest – regardless of what those dreams may be – we must all, collectively, begin to work together as an integrated whole, start listening to one another and, most importantly, we must help one another to truly let go of all our limitations, otherwise we will never be free.
