Discover how to make your own all-natural, easy, and affordable toothpaste at home! This recipe features bentonite clay, which may help remineralize and whiten your teeth. It’s free from toxic ingredients, vegan, and kind to the planet. Plus, it includes xylitol for added oral health benefits.
Bentonite clay is formed from weathered volcanic ash and ancient oceanic sediment. The practice of eating clay has been recommended as a medicinal remedy for thousands of years. Its medicinal value dates back long before the advent of modern medicine. 1
Clay offers a rich variety of minerals, such as calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, sulfur, manganese, and silica, along with trace elements.
Bentonite clay helps remove stains from your teeth by absorbing toxins and bacteria from your mouth. When used for dental care, it binds to plaque and releases minerals like calcium ions into your saliva. Studies have shown that incorporating bentonite clay into your regular dental routine can lead to whiter teeth over time without damaging enamel or irritating gums. 2
Bentonite clay replenishes lost minerals in tooth enamel and removes bacteria and toxins from your teeth. It also reduces gum inflammation, improving overall oral health and remineralizing your teeth.
Using metal utensils can deactivate your clay from it’s pulling power! Make sure you use plastic or ceramic utensils when making your recipe.
People with certain allergies might react negatively to bentonite clay. It’s important to consult your dentist before switching to bentonite clay toothpaste to ensure it’s safe and suitable for you.
